| Description | These papers were collected together by Smith under the title 'Foot' and relate to cases of horse illness and injury treated by Smith and other army veterinarians. The case notes cover work carried out for the 12th Royal Lancers in Bangalore [Bengaluru] from 1882-1884 and for the Army Service Corps and Royal Artillery at Aldershot, 1888-1892. There are also some post-mortem examination reports.

At the front of the folder there is a manuscript list of foot-related cases recorded elsewhere in post-mortem examination note books. Also enclosed are printed articles of Smith's cases and comment on his expansion shoe, published in veterinary journals in 1892-1893, and anatomical sketches and paintings of foot related injuries.
