DescriptionThese papers relate to cases of horse illness and injury treated by Smith and other veterinarians. The majority of the contents are articles not written by Smith from 'The Veterinary Journal', 'The Veterinarian' and 'The Veterinary Record' 1868-1896 and 1916, with some additional manuscript notes by Smith. Subjects covered include enteritis, torsion, nutrition, hernia and surgery. Also enclosed is a proof of an article by Smith titled 'The Influence of the time of day on the production of colic'.

The case notes cover work carried out for the Royal Artillery and 12th Royal Lancers in Secunderabad [Sikandar-a-bad] in India from 1881-1885 and at Aldershot 1891-1893. Injuries and illnesses treated include colic and impaction of the oesophagus.
