| Description | These papers were collected together by Smith under the title 'Nervous System including Tetanus' and relate to cases of horse illness and injury treated by Smith and other army veterinarians. The case notes cover work carried out for the 12th Royal Lancers at Bangalore [Bengaluru] and Secunderabad [Sikandar-a-bad] in India from 1881-1884 and at Aldershot from 1888-1889. There are also some post-mortem examination reports.
Injuries and illnesses treated include: tetanus, epilepsy, megrims, spinal cord injuries, paralysis, paraplegia
At the front of the folder there is a manuscript list of nervous system related cases recorded elsewhere in post-mortem examination note books. Also enclosed is a proof of a printed version of one of Smith's clinical records, published 1893, and several paintings and sketches of the spinal cord. |
