TitlePapers relating to Smith's veterinary career
Date1865-1931
Extent6 boxes 1 volume
DescriptionThese papers cover the breadth of Smith's veterinary career, as a student and as part of the Army Veterinary Service. Included are notes, correspondence, printed articles, artwork, and photographs. Some of the documents were created in an official capacity, working for the military, but there is also research work possibly carried out for personal interest and investigation. The notes include case notes, post-mortem examinations and sketches of ailments and injuries. The correspondence is to various individuals within the military and veterinary profession.
The separation into the different SubSeries is to reflect different job roles taken on by Smith, and they approximately correlate to a chronology. However, some material, particularly the papers at FS/2/2/2, have been accumulated over a long time period and not wholly whilst Smith was in one role.

Some material is annotated by Smith himself, explaining the significance or context of the material, and why it might be useful in the future.
